The FIFA world cup FIFA world cup is the biggest tournament in the world of football. It is an international competition in which the football national teams will compete against each other. All the National teams are included in the event and they will play in the main event after qualifying from their respective regional qualifiers. The World cup is organized by FIFA which is the governing body of international and global football. Beginning The event occurs after four years and it will be hosted by one of the competing teams. The first ever world cup tournament was held in the year 1930 in Uruguay. The only time when the event was called off was during the World War period (1942, 46). The tournament is split up into 2 parts; first is the qualifying phase and the second is the final stage. The qualifying starts before three years of the final stage where all the teams from different regions will compete for qualification. The team which is hosting the event will get automatic qualification. World Cup is the most popular tournament that has the highest number of television viewership compared to any other event. The final stage will have 32 qualified teams from different regions and they will first play in; group stages, knout phase, quarter finals, semi finals and the final. The whole tournament will go on for a month. The viewership of the event is almost 715 million people all over the world. World cup winners During its long history some teams have dominated the event from its beginning. Brazil has won the tournament for a record five times. Italy has won event four times in every quarter period of the event. Germany has won three titles and is followed by Argentina who claimed the gold twice. The 2006 event was won by the Italians who defeated France in penalty shootout. |
